Building the Heart of Youth Soccer in Bed-Stuy
Founded in 2021, Bedstuy Soccer Club was created with a simple but powerful goal: to bring accessible, high-quality youth soccer to the heart of Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. As we prepare to mark our fourth year serving local families, we are proud to be recognized as the main soccer club in the neighborhood, operating out of Herbert Von King Park and surrounding community spaces.
For many years, soccer was not as visible or popular on the streets of Bed-Stuy as it was in other parts of Brooklyn. Despite the neighborhood having an abundance of parks and open green spaces, many of these fields went unused for organized soccer. The reason was simple—there were very few affordable soccer clubs offering consistent programs for local children and families. Bedstuy Soccer Club was founded to change that.
From the beginning, our mission has been to introduce soccer to young children in a welcoming, safe, and community-focused environment. We started small, offering kids’ soccer classes and toddler programs, and slowly built trust within the neighborhood. Today, we proudly offer year-round soccer programming for boys and girls, including toddler soccer programs for children ages 2–5, youth soccer classes, seasonal outdoor leagues, and opportunities for young players to join soccer teams right here in Brooklyn.
Bedstuy Youth Soccer Club At Herbert Von King Park
Herbert Von King Park plays a central role in our story. Each spring, from March through June, the park becomes home to our entire outdoor soccer season. The fields come alive with young players learning the fundamentals of the game, building confidence, and forming friendships. In the fall, from September through November, we return to the park to continue our outdoor programming for both youth players and toddlers, ensuring that children of all ages have a place to play and grow.
During the summer months, Bedstuy Soccer Club hosts two weeks of full-day soccer summer camps for kids ages 5–10. These camps run Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with extended-day options available for parents who need additional care. Our summer camps offer more than just soccer—children enjoy a full day of structured play, skill development, games, and fun activities that keep them engaged, active, and learning in a supportive environment.
When winter arrives, we move indoors to ensure soccer never stops. Our indoor soccer season is hosted at Socceroof Crown Heights, a location conveniently close to Bed-Stuy that provides a safe, accessible space for young players to continue learning and enjoying the game during the colder months.
